On GzaGzaCar, drivers who are already making a trip sell their free seats, and passengers book them and pay by card. It’s built in Tbilisi and run by Jomo LLC.

Between towns, people take a marshrutka on its own timetable, a shared taxi that leaves when it’s full, or a driver found in a Facebook group or a Telegram chat, where nobody checks who’s driving and nothing comes back if the ride falls through.

What’s built
An iPhone app
Search, booking, card payment, messages, live trip sharing and ratings, in Georgian, English and Russian. In testing on TestFlight.
Booking and driving on the web
Anyone with a browser, Android phones included, can book a seat, pay and cancel, or have their ID checked and publish a ride, here on gzagzacar.com.
Trust
A person checks drivers’ IDs and selfies, and verified drivers carry a badge. Rides can be women-only, refunds follow fixed rules, and a ride code confirms the right people got in.
Seats on part of the way
A car to Batumi can take someone to Kutaisi: each seat is priced for its part of the road, so a car can fill along the whole route.
Payments and payouts
Card payments through Flitt, and payouts to drivers’ cards or Georgian bank accounts.

How it earns
A 12% service fee on every seat, added at checkout. Drivers set their own price within a cost-sharing cap, so a ride shares the cost of a trip rather than charging a taxi fare.

Where we are
